Hello,
I am an amateur watch collector in Wichita Falls, Texas. You can see me on pocketwatchdatabase.com ( I really need to update). Most of my collection are RR grades in salesman cases - I have about 30+. And a couple I have recased as wrist watches (16s).
I am good at recasing the movements and I'm finally getting brave enough to start taking a movement apart. But ... I have a few questions for you.Ive seen watches with blue screws - whats that about??? Is about style or is there a meaning??? Do you carry these??? And are they for specific watches???
BLUE SCREWS WERE ONCE COMMON ESPECIALLY IN OLD POCKET WATCHES. HEAT TREATMENT TURNED THE STEEL BLUE AND SOME HIGH GRADE WATCH HAVE POLISHED BLUE SCREW HEADS. TODAY SOME WATCHES HAVE BLUE SCREWS WHICH NOW CAN ALSO BE JUST PLATED BLUE INSTEAD OF HEAT TREATED. ALL SCREWS BASICALLY ARE SPECIFIC TO A CERTAIN WATCH AND PART.

Generic tension ring crystals do not have date windows. The replacement professionals use when genuine not required is a 30.6 mm tension ring crystal.

Yes Cris, you can order from the website or by telephoning the watch material department during office hours at 510 832-0355.
As I wrote before, tension ring crystal installation requires a press and tapered side wall dies. Be sure the person installing knows what they are doing.
From home page click on watch material then on watch crystals followed by clicking on plastic round crystals where the tension ring crystals page is.
