| A word about selecting round and fancy crystals. During the heyday of popularity for these crystals most watchmakers (some still do today) stocked a complete range of all sizes of crystals. This was done not only for the fast service which is possible with stock on hand but also for being able to select and install the right size. Even with removing the crystal and correctly measuring the bezel diameter with the most accurate gauge it is still not possible to select the right crystal every time. Nothing beats the time tested method of placing different size crystals in the bezel and stopping when one is found to fit right. It is not uncommon for a watchmaker to measure a bezel and then to order the size he measured and to also order the next size smaller and larger. |

Antique Open Face Pocket Watch Glass Crystals An Open Face pocket watch is exactly what the name implies, meaning you can see the dial and the time without removing a lid or cover to see the time. Pocket watch which have lids are called Hunting Case Pocket Watches, since these watches commonly had hunting scenes on the covers.
